Don't get me wrong this article is not an attack on Christianity rather a call for sensitization. Every church should aim to have a welfare department, which members and non members alike may contact, when in dire need of help, inasmuch as the church preaches tithing and seed sowing, we must also encourage charity, acts of love towards the less privileged in our society. These acts are what should stand us out as Christians and not the number of conglomerates and airplanes we own. It is time for the Church to realize that the world is watching and waiting.
However getting upset and not going to church or leaving the church entirely, may not be a lasting solution as the call to fellowship with the brethren is an instruction, we just can't ignore.
We as modern day Christians must grow beyond the era of offering and tithing in church, rather we should individually and collectively involve ourselves in specific charities aimed at alleviating the plight of the underprivileged. Yes we sow our seeds in church. But think about it since there is so much controversy about how this money is being spent, and many of us would not like to speak against their pastors, men of God or the church. One way we can truly and honestly satisfy our heavenly mandate of charity outlined in Matthew 25:34-40 is by doing it yourself.
Yes i do appreciate the fact that we don't really have the time, but remember they are already establishments/NGOs that are involved in different charitable projects in line with aid of abandoned children, victims of rape and sexual molestation, prison visitation e.t.c. You can reach out to them, confirm their objectives, and assist in any way you can. Donations in cash, food items, educational materials, and healthcare services, are some of the more popular ways in which we can be of assistance.
Remember that all things must be done sincerely and in love.............JCGold.
