Precious Gift

Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons. But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.
Acts:10:34-35

Thank you Lord for your gift of Salvation

Domestic Violence

I represented a fashion house at the recent Da Viva African Fashion Week, the company used the opportunity to launch their new fabric collections and designs and continued till late. I and a few friends left at about 10:30pm at which point the show hadn't ended.
I was driving and had to drop my girls at their homes since it was quite late. Mary was the second friend I dropped off by her gate. I had started the car to leave when she approached the car visibly shaken after struggling awhile with the gate.
Her husband (who I later found out she wasn't yet married to but has a son for) had asked the gateman to lock the gate and collected the keys.
"Call him now" we suggested to her, behold her phone was off, low battery.
"Use my phone" I offered but she didn't know his number off hand,
Lord have mercy, if I took her to my house wouldn't I be accused of supporting her supposed wrong behavior but do I leave her outside at the mercy of the dangers of the night?

Life

A friend shared this on her facebook page.

Just got home a few days ago from being in hospital/rehab for a month after surgery. After having a feeding tube, not being able to talk and being confined to a wheelchair/walker I am thankful BUT the hardest part of it all is recovery during the next 5 months.

It's not easy when you're doing it alone day in and out trying to be strong. It's tough when you can barely walk just to do the simplest things. Or when few people call and no one comes by. You become an afterthought because in reality as long as it's not you going through it, why should you stop by and see about that person who is dealing with it. Then you realize who you really have in your corner.

I'm always the strong one making sure that everyone else is okay. And I wasn't going to post this because I know I'm still strong. But sometimes you have to say it. Sometimes you have to speak up before you go under. Well...been home now going on a week. Just thought I'd share.

For me this is a reminder of how delicate life is and to never take it for granted.

"Let the redeemed of the Lord say so".

What is your driver

Who is a worker?
A person committed to voluntary service unto God on behalf of the church for the edification of the body of Christ.

What drives a worker to serve in the church of God?

2Sam 23:8-29 paints a picture of three motives for service in any kingdom capacity.

1. Love for the king.
2 Sam 23: 8- 17 chronicles the first three of the mighty men of David. Men who were not only committed to the vision but loved and were extremely loyal to the king even in the face of death.

2. Love for the Kingdom/ Commitment to the mission
2Sam 23: 19-29 Highlights a second group of three and then thirty great men who did exploits. However their service was limited to the mission hence they never attained the position of the first three.
Also worth noting is that Uriah part of the thirty great men of David v29 was sentenced to death by the same David.
Consequently commitment to the mission does not necessarily grant one immunity against persecutions from the leadership.

3. Love for self
Some may join the workforce to fulfill selfish ambitions which may include the need for power, self importance, respect etc.
Still on 2Samuel let us examine the life of Joab who worked closely with King David 2Sam 2:13, 24, 2Sam 10:7.
Joab executed David's death sentence of Uriah 2Sam 11:14-16.
Joab on at least two occasions went against the king's instructions 2Sam 3:26-29, 2Sam 18:12-14 pursuing his personal agenda.
No wonder his name was not mentioned amongst the great men of David as highlighted in 2Sam 23.

To fulfill our heavenly mandate Matt 28:19-20 your service ultimately must come from a place of love. Love for Jesus who first loved you, that your fruit may abide.

John 15:16
Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
