Saturday 29 September 2012

Good evening y'all, am feeling much better today thanks for not asking. As you well know, my younger sister recently got married, and my sister-in-law is to be married soon, so indulge me if i seem to write a lot on about wedding tinzs.
On wednesday i went browsing with my sister-in-law for a wedding cake at a couple of pastry shops around Ikeja axis and we did get a good deal. We also met up with her decorator at the proposed wedding hall, and she pretty much told us her decorative visions for the place, let's see how much her services will cost.

Anyway that pretty much sums up my week, and God please help my kids overcome this cold and catarrh flu, IJN Amen.

Okay so back to my SEVEN DON'TS TO HAVING A STRESS FREE "I DO" DAY. Here is NUMBER THREE.

3. Don't make your hair on the day of your wedding.

That is a big No No, it doesn't matter how fast or good your stylist claims he is, making your hair on that day could cause one or both of the following;

  • Take up most of your morning, subsequently reducing your glamming up time, and leaves you helpless to supervise any pre-wedding shortfalls.
  • Pains or headaches from all the hair pulling and dragging.

My advice is make your hair at least a day before the wedding, provide accomodation for your stylist if necessary, so on the wedding day all that needs to been done is simply styling and brush ups.
Do not harbor the fear that the hair-do might look rough in the morning, i tell you any hair-do that can't survive one night, ain't worth its salt.

EFCC Arrests Dubai-Bound Nigerian With $7 Million

EFCC_copy

THE Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) said yesterday that it has arrested one Abubakar Tijani Sheriff at the Muritala Muhammed Airport in Lagos for attempting to smuggle $7 million out of the country.
The accused, who is currently being held by the commission pending arraingnment in court, was arrested at the point of boarding a flight enroute Dubai.

EFCC’s spokesman, Wilson Uwajaren said the 24-year-old declared that he had a total sum of $4.5million on him but thorough screening and search showed that he was actually carrying over $7 million.
“He confessed that he was a courier for 20 individuals who hired him to courier the money for them to Dubai,” Uwajaren said. However, “investigations by the EFCC showed that Sheriff is a regular traveller and one of several couriers of illegal cash suspected to be proceeds of crime. His claims in respect of his accomplices are still being investigated by the Commission,” he added.
“The Commission warns travellers who for any reason want to move bulk cash out of the country to do so through the banking system. Otherwise, they must be prepared to declare it and explain the source of the money,” he added.
People we need to end this incessant looting and subsequent laundering of money.

65 Year Old Grandma Hides 1.740kg Cocaine In Herbal Syrup

photo

Luck betrayed a 65-year-old grandmother, Hassan Fatimat Abike also known as Chika Okoye, who attempted to smuggle 1.740kg of cocaine into London concealed in herbal syrup.
It was not her fist time of going to London as the drug was packed in balloons and inserted in 10 plastic containers of herbal syrup to avoid detection.

The suspect was to board a British Airways flight when officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested her at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos on Wednesday. According to the Airport Commander, Mr. Hamza Umar, the suspect has two international passports that bear Hassan Fatimat Abike.

Preliminary investigation revealed that she is also known as Chika Okoye. She speaks Ibo and Yoruba fluently. Her father is a native of Abeokuta while her mother hails from Owerri, Imo State. Abike has six children and many grandchildren. She currently lives alone in Owerri and sells clothes to earn a living. The drug found in her bag tested positive for cocaine.

I really don't understand what conditions could have pushed an elderly woman, a grandmother for Christ sake who should be an epitome of integrity and honorable moral conduct, to get involved in such shady business. Well let's see what further investigations will reveal.

DEAR WIFE

This second letter is addressed to the wives. Read the first letter here

Dear Wife,
No one can deny the sacrifices you put into building the home, raising the kids and catering to my needs, even to the detriment of your aspirations. I write this letter, to let you know that your efforts are deeply appreciated, and if no one sees your efforts, your God in heaven who sees in secret would definitely reward you.
Though pride may sometimes get in the way of my decision making process, don't be fooled cause like a little child, i love being pampered and fed, food and all. Lead me not into temptation, but freely give unto me whenever i ask for it.  Forgive me when i forget your birthday and our anniversary, its just that the children's school fees have yet to be paid.
Ignore the occasional text messaging from those Jezebels,  they are just trouble makers, as for my blackberry that is off limits, for peace to reign please don't even touch it, also note that the special balloons you found in my wallet/bag are actually souvenirs distributed for marketing purposes, and though my words or actions may sometimes hint at infidelity, always remember that out of all the beautiful and willingly ladies out there, i chose you to be the mother of my kids, so believe me when i say, you are more than special.
My irreplaceable jewel, embrace your unique characteristic, cater to the home while maintaining your femininity (neat and desirable) and cherish our relationship always, never doubting that "YOU ARE STILL THE ONE".

Faithfully Yours,
Husband.

USHER'S EX-WIFE Appeals Custody Ruling
I Got Screwed

0831-tameka-usher-tmz

Usher's ex-wife Tameka Raymond is making good on her promise to fight a court order stripping her of child custody of their two children.
Tameka vowed to appeal the decision ... by filing a motion for new trial on grounds the judge was biased in Usher's favor.

Tameka claims the judge has a strong tie to Usher's lawyer, claiming the attorney was personally responsible for nearly half of the contributions to the judge's re-election campaign in 2008.  What's more ... Tameka alleges Usher's lawyer served on the judge’s re-election campaign committee.
Tameka also insists NO evidence was presented showing she couldn't take care of her kids.
Tameka also claims there was clear evidence of Usher's "past, current, and future inability" to care for the kids.
The judge hasn't ruled on her motion.

What do you guys think was she really screwed?

Thursday 27 September 2012

My two daughters were down with the flu (catarrh and cough), so am kind of out of sorts today, so do bear with me.
However this is my second posting on the  SEVEN DON'TS TO HAVING A  STRESS FREE "I DO" DAY, click here to read up on Number one(1) wedding don't.

Here we go;

2. Don't delay the pick up of your wedding gown or accessories till the wedding eve.

Whether you bought it, ordered it, tailored it, or even hired it, just ensure that  your gown gets to you at least one week before the wedding. This gives you time to try it on and ample opportunity to nip and tuck any loose corners, return or possibly replace any delivery or color errors.

My younger sister Nkechi, ordered her wedding gown to be delivered on her wedding eve, but you cannot imagine her horror and the panic that set in, when she discovered that the wrong bolero jacket was delivered with the gown. To cut the long story short the right bolero was never recovered, so she had to settle for another, which was delivered just in time the next morning, right before she had to leave for the church.

My point "a stitch in time saves nine".

Two headlines caught my attention in today's news

Maku Apologises To Senate Over Statement

The Minister of Information, Mr Labaran Maku, has apologised to the Senate over his comment that the resolutions of the Senate were only advisory and not binding.

The minister offered the apology on Tuesday in Abuja when he appeared before the Senate to clarify the statement credited to him in the media. The Senate had passed a resolution upon its resumption from recess that the federal government should stop the proposed issuance of N5,000 note.

Finally our country Nigeria grows to the level, where political leaders are held accountable for their words. This trend should be exemplified by all tiers of government and the society as large, as public office holders must be held responsibly over the success, failures, words or actions that emanate from their offices.

441 Drivers Test Positive To Cocaine, Marijuana In Lagos.

At least, 441 commercial bus drivers in Lagos State have tested positive to cocaine and marijuana, says Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris.

Idris said out of the 2,002 drivers tested for substances such as alcohol intake and others, 441 drivers, representing 22 per cent were found to have consumed cocaine and marijuana before driving.

The commissioner stated that the drivers were screened for blood alcohol content, substance abuse, hypertension, diabetes and vision impairment between 4 and 19 September, 2012 at Alaagba Motor Park and Under Bridge Motor Park at Iyana Ipaja area of the state.

The fact is we have known this all along, but now that it's been investigated and stated officially, what ch are we gonna do to stop this?

You have got to read this: A LETTER TO A GIRLFRIEND

You guys have got to read this, three letters to three different classes of the women folk. this is the first, the second letter will be posted tomorrow.

Dear Girlfriend,

Even though the bible condemns our relationship and calls us fornicators, we just can't help our weakness, cause your presence in  our lives remain a constant source of joy. Your skills on and off the bed pitch are inexhaustible, and your pics and text messages always better our day.
Of course we know the cost of a meal at any fast food, fees associated with hiring a cleaner and the available laundry/dry-cleaning rates, so your vast attention is deeply cherished.
Due to our huge, insatiable appetite, we tend to have two or more of you in our lives, but don't let that disturb you, just keep doing what you know how to do best.
Even when we are egoistic and pick fights with you especially during holiday seasons, please forgive our excesses, the truth is either we are broke and too proud to let you know, or something/someone else recently captured our short attention span, or we are being mindful of outside competition for your attention, especially from those so called married men.
Really, what could we do without you, God willingly in the not too distant future, we would pop the question and make this deal permanent.

Lovingly Yours,

Boyfriend.

This is just a bit of the second letter addressed to the wives, read it up tomorrow. Cheers.

Dear Wife,

No one can deny the sacrifices you put into the home, raising the kids and catering to our sometimes obnoxious needs, even at the detriment of your ambitions. This letter is just to let you know that you are deeply appreciated, and if no one sees your efforts...........................................

Tuesday 25 September 2012

So i did promise that i was gonna dish on SEVEN DON'TS TO HAVING A STRESS FREE "I DO" DAY and i will, therefore i suggest that you keep a date with me, cause every other day am going to drop one DON'T, till i get to number 7 and maybe if am motivated by some of your comments, i could compile the "7 " into one easy viewing post.

Here we go.................

1. Don't make your bridegroom's friends responsible for the dispensing of drinks.

You wanna know why? I'll tell you why!
Originally his  friends might actually mean well and could sincerely want to contribute to the success of the wedding, you know as a favor to their pal. But when the day finally arrives, one or two things could go wrong, either 30% of them would come late and most of your guests would probably die from thirst, or they would be too well dressed to even want to get down and dirty (if the case arises), or their partners you know wife or girlfriend might totally engage him such that he completely forgets his original mandate.

So my advice to you is either pay for ushers to handle the bar tending of drinks, or engage the services of younger brothers or cousins, yeah they are easier to manage and tend to be a bit more submissive.

Have you had a similar experience, drop your comments and WATCH OUT FOR PART TWO
3 boats deployed to rescue trapped flood victims as Lokoja-Abuja highway closes

The Nigeria Red Cross Society has said that it had deployed three boats to the riverine areas of Ibaji Local Government Council of Kogi, to rescue trapped flood victims taking refuge on tree tops.

The state sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has announced the temporary closure of the Lokoja-Abuja highway, due to increase in the volume of water on the road.
He said since the volume of water on the road kept increasing, thereby making it dificult for vehicles to ply, they were directed to close the road to motorists.
In another press statement, the Corps Public Education Officer, Jonas Agwu, the FRSC said it had mapped out four designated routes for motorists to ply.

Some passengers travelling from the southern part of the country and heading to the North but got stranded in  Lokoja, Kogi State, as a result of the flood are now selling their belongings and personal effects to survive.

Mean while the Ministry of Environment of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Collaboration with other partner agencies has set up a Web based Flood Early Warning System (FEWS) to monitor various locations in the country for Flood Signs, and Issue alerts to minimize loss of lives and property.

OMG,When i read this headline i must admit that it gave clarity to the flooding situation in Lokoja, this is a clear warning to Nigeria as a country, we are not immune to the natural disasters that occur in other countries and we need to seriously generate long term preventive and contingency plans to curb this re-occurring event.

My gateman's son who was on his way down to Lagos from Abuja, is also trapped in Lokoja, God help him.

ROYAL WEDDING

Glittering jewels and the echoes of a 17-gun salute marked the climax of wedding celebrations for the daughter of one of the world's wealthiest men, the Sultan of Brunei.
Princess Hajah Hafizah Sururul Bolkiah, 32, and Pengiran Haji Muhammad Ruzaini, 29, were presented to the royal court in a lavish traditional ceremony at the sultan's 1,700-room palace on Sunday.
Although the couple were legally wed on Thursday after signing the marriage contract, Sunday's event marks the height of more than a week of festivities in the tiny oil rich Muslim sultanate on Borno Island.

It is the first time one of the sultan's children - five sons and seven daughters from three marriages - has married since 2007.

Hafizah, who has a degree in business administration, is the fifth child of the sultan and Queen Saleha and works as an officer at the finance ministry.
Ruzaini is a civil servant in the prime minister's office.

The ceremony was held in the Sultan's 1,700-room palace.

Queen Elizabeth II also sent a message to the Brunei royal family - which has ruled the sultanate for 600 years - congratulating the newlyweds and wishing them "a happy wedding day and many blessed years together".

Oooh boy see wedding, i tell you something these guys really know how to spend oil money.

Anyway back here in naija my younger sister Nkechi recently got married at Port-Harcourt, naturally i was there to support, but my dad unceremoniously made me project manager over the both ceremonies (the traditional and church wedding).

So on my upcoming blogs am going to share with you darlings;

SEVEN DON'TS TO HAVING A STRESS FREE "I DO" DAY(wedding).

It will highlight certain details, we tend to overlook during the wedding planning process which could potentially trigger a panic attack on the D-day and ultimately stress out the bride not good for the pictures.

So keep a date with me and don't forget to leave your comments, i always love to hear from you.
