Ondo State Youths Chase Away “BORN-AGAIN” King For Shunning Traditional OGUN Festival

Youths of Ogbagi-Akoko, in Akoko South-West LGA of Ondo State last Friday chased away their monarch, the Owa of Ogbagi, Oba Victor Adetona, from the palace for his refusal to approve the yearly celebration of the “Ogun festival”.
According to PUNCH’s report, the monarch, narrowly escaped being lynched when the youths, armed with dangerous items, besieged the palace. The youths, it was learnt, damaged vehicles and decorations in the palace said to be worth millions of naira.

Some of the youths, who craved anonymity, told PUNCH on Monday that Adetona had been disrespecting the town’s traditions since he was installed as the monarch.

One of them said:
“Our king has not been respecting our traditions. He has refused to join the ‘Awo cult’. He has refused to marry another wife after he became the king; and he has consistently refused to approve the celebration of some traditional festivities”.

“He has flagrantly objected to all pleas for him to respect traditions and the culture of our people and has vowed that as a born-again Christian, he will never indulge in or encourage such traditional rites throughout his reign”.

It was learnt that the monarch allegedly travelled out of the state in order not to partake in the worship of the Ogun festival.
The youths, however, monitored his movement and stormed his new palace when he returned from his journey and destroyed everything on sight.
Other monarchs who were with him on the fateful day, saved the situation as the youths allegedly insisted on killing Adetona, it was learnt.
At the palace gate, the monarch pasted the membership emblem of the Redeemed Christian Church of God while there is a place where members of his church congregate every Sunday evening for fellowship.

Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness sake for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Okada man shot dead by Policemen

Okada riders protest restriction on 496 roads
Commercial motorcyclists, 'Okada' riders, trooped out again Tuesday November 6 in their large numbers to protest the alleged killing of one of their colleagues by a policeman in Ilupeju area of Lagos. There was palpable fear in the air and emotions too high to calm down in the area as policemen fired bullets and teargas indiscriminately to disperse the protesters.

A facebook user, who witnessed the melee wrote on his wall that a policeman shot an 'Okada', leading to the latter's death, after failing to stop the 'Okada' from escaping on Coker Road in Ilupeju. It was reliably gathered that the 'Okada' man had escaped being arrested by the policeman when he was shot dead in the morning around 11.
As soon as the 'Okada' rider fell to the ground and died, the alleged killer policeman and his colleagues were said to have taken to their heels while the dead rider was left in the pool of his blood, but was later  taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. It would be recalled that we ran a story of some policemen who stripped an 'Okada' rider naked near University of Lagos

It is a stretch to imagine that policemen and traffic agents (LASTMA et al) have now devised brutal and dehumanising methods of enforcing the new Lagos State Traffic Law which, among others, also bars okada riders from about 475 roads in the metropolis quite aside from the thousands of motorcycles belonging to okada riders that were seized and burn sometime back.

MASSOB denounces Biafra republic declaration

The group under the aegis of Biafra Zionist Movement that decleared Biafra Republic
The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra on Tuesday said it had nothing to do with the declaration of Biafra on Monday by the Biafra Zionist Movement.
MASSOB’s Director of Information, Mr. Uchenna Madu, who spoke on behalf of MASSOB leader, Chief Ralph Uwazurike, said BZM’s declaration in Enugu was “empty, childish and misguided”.
But Madu said MASSOB still believed that a sovereign state of Biafra could still be realised.
He recalled that the leader of BZM, Mr. Ben Onwuka, was part of MASSOB from the beginning but was expelled several years ago.
He further said BZM had no office or Biafran structures as a platform for running Biafra affairs.
He said, “The Biafra declaration was done by MASSOB leader, Chief Ralph Uwazurike on May 22nd, 2000 at Freedom Square, Faulks Road, Aba after sending Biafran Bill of Right to United Nations.
“MASSOB supports every genuine move by any group in this struggle for Biafra actualisation but we doubt the BZM leadership methodology on Biafra actualisation without resorting to violence. We fought all these years to maintain peace using non-violent method as the greatest tool for actualising our dream.”
“The group (BZM) is trying to cause problem in South-East because the leadership consists of faceless people who have no house or anything to identify them.
“MASSOB urges the public to dismiss them as attention seekers; we have overgrown the era of marching the streets with Biafran flags.
