Local News Update

JusCommentries

It is about time that the traders in Onitsha Market put their acts together, stop the adulteration and sale of fake products and turn that market into a first class venue for good and viable products.
Pension administrators must understand that the siphoning of funds allocated to the payment of the entitlements of elderly service men many times leads to the ultimate death of these elders hence the blood of these ones will one day be required form their hands, not to talk of its effect on the families of the pensioners, when this source of income is cut off.
One day the wind will blow and we will see the anus of the cock,  eventually we will know the truth about Governor Chime.
Yes, i quite agree that Tonto and Cossy need to turn it down a notch, the truth is no matter how hard you try, Nollywood is not Hollywood and the Nigerian culture does not celebrate nudity like our foreign counterparts.
The mystery corpses discovered in Anambra is a scary occurence that lives a lot to the imagination and calls for serious investigation.

NAFDAC may seal off Onitsha market

Director-General of NAFDAC, Dr. Paul Orhii.

National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control has warned that it will not hesitate to close down the Bridge-head drug market in Onitsha if the traders fail to keep to standards prescribed by the agency.
The Coordinator, NAFDAC Special Zonal Office, Onitsha, Mr. Dauda Gimba, issued the warning at a ceremony where gifts were presented to NAFDAC Consumer Safety Club Schools’ Competition for the 2012 Anambra State Award held in Onitsha.
Gimba warned that there was no guarantee that what happened at the Drug Market, Kano would not happen in Onitsha even though such closure had taken place in Bridge-Head Drug Market, Onitsha about five years ago.
“We have been doing our best, entering the markets, sanitizing the system. But I can assure you if the experience in Kano is anything to go by, there is no guarantee it won’t happen in Onitsha.

Past pension administrators siphoned N4bn monthly – PRTT

CHAIRMAN OF THE PENSION REFORM TASK FORCE TEAM, ABDULRASHEED MAINA

The Pension Reform Task Team on Tuesday said past pension administrators siphoned about N4bn monthly from the national treasury.
It also claimed that 38,000 pensioners had received their accrued harmonised arrears just as another 50,000, who retired since 1968 had received their entitlements.
The PRTT spokesperson, Mr. Hassan Salihu, who said this in an interview with our correspondent in Abuja, claimed that the team, which came into being in 2010, “inherited massive non-payment of pensioners from the former pension administrators, who were siphoning an average of about N4bn monthly”.
He said, “The PRTT has so far paid over 38,000 genuine pensioners their accrued harmonised arrears, which is the first in the history of governance in Nigeria that all pensioners are being paid. Also over 50,000 pensioners who were hitherto denied pensions since retirement as far back as 1968 have been pay rolled by the PRTT and since been paid their accrued arrears and are now collecting their monthly pensions.”
According to him, the siphoning of N4bn monthly by previous pension administrators has resulted in a situation where federal civil service pensioners are deprived of their pensions.

An aggrieved youth from Abuja has written an open letter to controversial actresses, Cossy Orjiakor and Tonto Dikeh over what he described as their 'dirty' lifestyles, which is now polluting the new generation.

An unedited letter written by Prince Tijani Dauda on behalf of 100million Nigerian youth reads;

I am personally writing this letter, on behalf of all Nigerian youths, home and abroad who have so much, on many occasions, on social networks, media, e.t.c raised displeasure over the recent attitude and lifestyle of the said two actress/musician, COSSY ORJIAKOR and TONTO DIKE.

These two classes of people have decided to take the bull by their horn, to pollute, pontificate and parade themselves in the name of stars, to display nudity to our society. We are living in an age where our children are intelligently enlightened by what they see, and in most cases, they tag some of these actress as role models.

This is not a good example to our children, youths and people of our dear country Nigeria that is so blessed and has respect for culture, ethnic and religion. It doesn't speak well at all. The recent post of nude pictures of Cossy has generated a lot of controversies, and if properly checked you will see how our youths are crying to call for a stop to this irresponsible act. Enough is enough.

We can't take it anymore. Our culture forbids it. Islam forbids it. Christianity forbids it.

We are therefore, calling on this able, respected and well known body to take immediate step to ensuring that it is stopped and they should be served a warning notice.

A copy of this letter has also, at this same time being transmitted to other relevant entertainment bodies and government.
God bless Nigeria.

Signed
Prince Tijani Dauda

Reps, NHRC demand probe into Anambra mystery corpses

One of the corpses found floating on the Ezzu River
The House of Representatives and the National Human Rights Commission on Tuesday called on security agencies to unravel the mystery surrounding the dumping of dead bodies in the Ezu River in Anambra State by unknown persons.
The House passed a resolution on Tuesday asking its Committee on Police Affairs to investigate the incident.
The resolution followed a motion by a member representing Awka-North/Awka-South Federal Constituency, Mr. Chukwuemeke Nwogbo.
Also on Tuesday, the National Human Rights Commission insisted that the perpetrators of the dastardly act must be arrested and brought to justice.
A statement by the Director, Public Affairs and Communications Department of the commission, Muhammad Nasir Ladan, said the Executive Secretary, Prof. Bem Angwe, made the call while reacting to the incident.
Angwe, in the statement, said, “The right to life remains the mother of all rights and therefore must be recognised and observed by all members of the society.”
He explained that the state coordinators of the commission’s offices in Awka and Enugu had been directed to carry out a thorough investigation of the incident and report back to Abuja urgently.
Angwe said the corpses should be properly examined through an autopsy to provide more information on the killings.

A  Godswill Akpabio; and the Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam with the Enugu State Governor, Sullivan Chime while the first trio visited Mr Chime in London, has began to generate attention and undoubtedly so much mixed reactions.
While many remain sceptical of the authenticity of the date the picture was actually taken, many are willing to give the “accumulated vacation” side of this story as peddled by aides of the missing-in-action governor of Enugu State a space. A great many believe Mr Chime is overseas on a sick leave.
The media had in recent weeks shared that Mr. Chime is in a London hospital where he is being treated for an undisclosed treatment. At some point towards the end of last year, 2012, there were rumours spread about the governors death with agitations from opposition in the state calling for his outright replacement.
The Enugu Governor who has been away from the state for about three months is reported to have been in different foreign hospitals.
Pundits believe that the circulation of this picture is a strategic move to douse recent demands by especially the Save Enugu Group to know the true state and location of their governor.
